Perched on a dramatic bluff overlooking downtown Portland, this contemporary residence seamlessly integrates complex land-use planning with high-density architectural design. The project began with a comprehensive site planning phase, successfully executing lot confirmations and property line adjustments across four distinct lots. This critical groundwork maximized the steep, view-heavy topography and laid the foundation for an optimized footprint that respects the natural hillside.
The main residence is a modern, light-filled 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home defined by clean geometric lines and a striking, high-contrast exterior palette. Utilizing the natural slope of the bluff, a fully integrated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) was carved into the daylight basement level. This strategic layout provides an independent, private living space with ample natural light, expanding the home's functionality without increasing its overall footprint.
By elevating the main living spaces and entry, the design secures exceptional privacy from the street while capturing sweeping, panoramic views of the city skyline.
